Operator Ready to Help Startup Beat Google and Facebook

Telecommunication Providers Association of Indonesia (ATSI) declared its intention to promote the establishment of player applications over the top (OTT) locally.

ATSI plans to select five local startups engaged in the field of application messages or social media. Furthermore, the maker of the application will be developed with the target to realize the quality that could beat Google or Facebook.

ATSI chairman Alexander Rusli said they have not decided anyone who get coaching assistance. Therefore, any startup may still register by sending a proposal to the Secretariat of ATSI, provided in accordance with the provisions.

ATSI discussions with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (Kemenkominfo) to set the filtering provision.

Condition, startup must be messaging services or social media, not affiliated with a particular telecom operator, 100 percent locally owned and has been incorporated.

Next, they must already have a subscriber base of 100 thousand people, but has not reached 500 thousand people and has Android.

"Later mid-January 2016 we will announce (3 startup that will be supported). We will help them to promote to users of our cell, either via SMS to MMS directly," said Alex, on the sidelines of the launch of 4G LTE Digital Revolution, in The National Museum, Friday (12/11/2015).

"Next, we will see progress for six months. If they are good, we will add OTT assisted," he added.

Just to note, the application has an important role in the development of the 4G LTE ecosystem. Fast Internet technology that has been completed and opened to commercial, but there needs to be a device to access and applications that run on it.

From the side of the device, the government, in this case, the Ministry of Communication, promote the establishment of the rule of Domestic Content Level (DCL) for 4G LTE devices. One aim is to appear devices that are cheaper.

Furthermore, the application necessary for smartphone users have a reason to wear faster internet technology. Without the application or use of reason, it would not be complete ecosystem
