Sandhill Found on Mars



Mars rover named Curiosity rover belonging to the US space agency, NASA, managed to capture the first image of Mars dunes. The rover found the sand dunes during a trip up to the mountain-coated sand.

Mars sand dunes are part of the 'Bagnold Dunes', which took place in the northwest side of Mount Sharp inside Gale Crater. Curiosity is planning to take samples of sand from the hills, filtering sand for examination in the laboratory.

As reported by the Daily Mail, Sunday (12/13/2015), by observing field hill from orbit, astronauts can determine the edge of the dunes move up to three feet per Earth years. Curiosity using the wheels as well as its science payload to investigate sand hills that form active on Mars.

The image shows a wavy surface in 'High Dune', taken by Curiosity Mast Camera, and have been adjusted slightly resembles daylight conditions on Earth. Recently, NASA's robotic Mars exploration Rover dig deep sand more than 10 cm gently.
